To celebrate...

the last stitch knitted (actually purled) on the Clapotis!!!!

More pictures to follow because the ends are not woven in yet, and there are still drop stitches to free.

Meanwhile, I need to prep for a tutorial class tomorrow (the first real class of this career!)

Today is also June 19, so 2 years ago, this was what happened...

Frogged~~~

it went ribbit ribbit in my hands...

So in my hands was my neverending project... This is one of my firsts, in fact the very reason why I learnt knitting (besides cross-stitching not being challenging enough) But it is just cursed not to move along too quickly. At 138 rows, it's still at least 15 cm away from the end (and I still have the front to go!)

138 rows and not moving

I was already thinking of knitting it in the round after my socks and razor tank. but i never thought it was a good enough reason.

Then, with the very probable tension change (it's my earlier projects right? so it was so tight the stitches could hardly move on the needle) and a new way to do the edging without ribbing or risking the curls, I decided.

Frog it, it is.

Here it stands

RRRRRRRRR....

and there.
Pull out the needle and tug the string...

Froggin' good time
It's sitting very still in my bag. The ripping sort of felt like freedom, as it went rrrrrrrrrrrrr....

And then here it is sitting on my lap, being wound.

Winding

The two balls ended up as two cakes. I casted on again for the new edging and IN THE ROUND this time. Am now up to the seventh row without actually sitting down doing it (i.e. i was in the car, on the internet, doing something etc)

AS was like this :(
but after I explained to him why I had to do it
he was like :)

Meanwhile, I've also casted on for Seduction Socks with some KP yarn I've found. Am using the Boye needles from SP10 and a small preview here. I love the color of the needles!

WWWKIP day~!

Yesterday was WWWKIP day, and our plan was to take the MRT (the local subway/metro) and knit in public. Did we invite weird stares? I'm not so sure, cos I wasn't really paying attention. But I should think we did :P After all, seeing one person knit on the train is already odd. seeing more than one and all together, is indeed something new!

So here are all the knitters (sans moi because I didn't take a picture of myself)

WWWKIP day I - Concentration WWWKIP day II
Karyn, Cindy, MLC and Lois

And then here we are at the end-point, Dhoby Ghaut.

WWWKIP day III

We then had lunch and proceeded for more knitting at a cafe, as we always use to. I certainly thought this was a great exercise and I hope if we have another one next year, there would be more of us. ;) Thanks to Lois too, that we're listed on the WWWKIP site this time. yeay!

I've got loads of new yarns as well... My Bendigo and Anne arrived!

Bendigo!!!

More Anne Looks

On another note... something's up for frogging...
yes the neverending sweater...

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ...

To be continued...

It's good to be spoiled

SP10's package arrived yesterday~ (actually the day before but it was a bulky item, so I had to go down and get it.)

I had so much to do running errands, seeing friends off (some are leaving) and catching up with what I'm really supposed to be doing that I didn't have time to bask in all the pressies until today.

And truly they were wonderful. See? :D

SP10 Spoils!!!

There was yarn from Cherry Tree Hill, Lily's Sugar 'n Cream, DPNs from Susan Bates and Boye, a Hairband, some candy, a card making kit and SEEDS!!! Daisy and tomato seeds! So fun!! :D

Here's a look again at my CTH

YAYYYYYY

*does a victory dance*

Thujas finished!!! (before father's day too wahaha)

Thanks to the Techknitter, I learnt how to do the kitchener stitch easily here.

I'm going to post the pictures tomorrow.

PHEW!!

Meme.....

Ok Lois tagged me...

Here are the rules:

1. Each player starts with 7 random facts about themselves.
2. People who are tagged write a post with the same.
3. At the end of the post tag 7 people.

1. I don’t like being both wet and dry at the same time, like walking barefooted on wet tiles or sitting dripping wet in the sun. That’s probably the reason why I don’t like going to swimming pools. It’s the greasy feeling actually, which means beaches are quite ok.J I also don’t like to step on lines (like in between tiles) and often try not to.

2. I have about a thousand or more (I stopped counting) pieces of DVDs and CDs (including boxsets) – They all have to be arranged by genre and in alphabetical order (by Artistes or Title for music or movies respectively.) The same goes for my books but they have been a bit messy after I moved. And yes, if you were wondering, my needles are all arranged by type and ascending sizes.

3. I love horror movies and thrill rides – so sometimes I scare AS (weird kid I am…). I even went around pretending to be Sadako for awhile. I also like war movies but despite all the blood and gore, I don’t like seeing animals die.

4. I don’t like chocolate. But I make exceptions for European dark chocolate. And Milo. And sometimes Fran.

5. I love most machines, ranging from cars to tanks to computers. Some classmates started to call me Techno TaiTai or the class InfoGeek recently. I’m not quite geeky enough really but I would love to do 13375p34k or become a Trekkie.

6. I played the piano since I was 4, the Flute since I was 13 and the Piccolo around 15. I haven’t touched anyone of them since I moved (which is about 2 years ago). I have all the instruments I play (well technically, since my piano is at my mum's place)

7. I don’t like red or pink but I make limited exceptions for the following: Burgundy, Maroon, Fuschia, Dusty Rose.

Updates~

I've been quiet lately because of the exams but then I've been back for a day (or two - i lose count) and here I am with more stuff to update.

The Thuja is still at the leg, but I'm going to be working on the heel soon in 8 rows, which is very soon (probably at the next sitting). The Kimono's up again and i've done the first repeat! - Hooray!!! And the Clapotis is up to the 6th drop stitch so 14 more to go~~ whee....

Meanwhile I met Lois, Cindy and ssedroyesterday for awhile so that we see her before she goes back to twin cities for the summer hols. Cindy passed me all the addis from HK (whoo hoo). I decided that I'd need a box to organize my needles. So here they are in an organized mess.

Nadeln... x infinity

If you notice the Crystal Palace DPNs are also there :D - which leads me to...

The CTH Green Mountain Madness!

Cherry Tree Hill!

It's driving me Mad because I'm so madly in love with it now even though it's not purple or blue or gray

Green is now my fourth favorite color.

CTH!!!

Fast and Furious~~

What kind of knitting needles are you?

You are "turbo" charged.Fast moving and classy, you get things done with power and grace. Your expensive tastes can be deceiving, since what you really value is quality and efficiency. As you're careening around those corners in life, finishing a dozen knitted objects each month, stop and smell the roses. Don't miss the beauty of process!

Clap along with me?

So I'm done with the increasing rows...

Done Increasing - Clapotis

I love how the yarn sort of has this sheen to it.

Clapotis Sheen

It's really smooth to knit with too, although I've heard of the yarn breaking (and when it precariously becomes very thin at some parts) I get a bit nervous. But the Tapestry's been behaving so far, and I've joined another ball! (Yayy!) A new skill learnt - that's join by felting... hehehe

Decided to work on to see what dropping the stitches look like. They look great!

First Drop!

And now i think it will go very slowly now... AS is back over the weekend and I'm not done with the second Thuja (it does go very quickly, since I take it out with me.) I can't wait (for the Thuja to be done and for AS to come back and for me to start the entrelac scarf with the Leadmine!)

Feel Bambou~

Do you feel it?
the cool smooth touch of the Adriatic...
go on,
Feel...

Phil'Bambou in Neon look

Phil'Bambou was here today! (or rather i went to meet them)

Phil'Bambou in Adriatic~~ Yum

I was quite surprised at how small the little balls of yarn were. A little smaller than expected. The color was a little more unique then I expected too. But I like this shade even more that what I saw on the Net. I may never knit with them unlike what I planned - simply because it's Phildar and it's call Adriatic.

Bambou Art

And as if you can't get enough, here's a lonely Phil'Bambou for you.

Lone Bambou

Together with Phil', Tapestries were acquired a couple of days back. Just didn't have the time to take pictures or put them up (read: mang, millie and mollie have been popular at my flickr)

There's Whirlpool for Clapotis

Whirlpool 1

Leadmine for the Entrelac Scarf

Leadmine

And Rainbow for my own random act of squirreling yarn. (One more ball isn't that much more expensive... is it?)

Finally, I've got home made jam accompanying the Phil', as well as pretty pictures of my beloved Lyon. mmm mmm mmm....

all things random about k-ing

Firstly the second Thuja has been casted on. Finished an assignment (not really but it met part of the deadline before the edits - just waiting for partner's response now) so I thought I'd finish 'The Secret Life of a Knitter'.

I didn't but actually casted on Thuja 2 instead. Which is a good thing. I woke up this morning and made like 1/6 of a random scarf. It doesn't have to be finished, and could be frogged anytime. I just had a sudden urge to see what happens to that yarn when it becomes a scarf. So far it's not in my wip bag, but in the stash. I don't know what's going to happen to it - I'm not calling it a wip.

for the last 2 days i somehow couldn't find the printed copy of the Kimono and the last time where I did about 2 rows... (how pathetic - see here) I did it from reading the pattern from the computer. I think if I don't have the M&Ms and the hamhams, I would start talking to the computer. If no one already knows, I'm one who is not comfortable when there's no Internet, or the computer is not switched on, or if there's no gadget of anykind. I just feel a bit out of place. And now I've found another reason to switch this thing on - read my pattern from it! Yayyy~~~ \^.^/~

I'm up to row 8 now and counting.

Lois has informed of the WWKIP post. It sounds great! Maybe i should be sporting that punk rock look again. ... rofl rofl

i swear i wanted to say something else but i can't remember. oh well.

updating...

I was supposed to put this up yesterday but I was just too tired. Too much going on at home...

Thuja

AS left yesterday morning and on Sunday we were sleepy, packing, ironing, and all sorts of last minute stuff. I started back on Thuja only in the late evening, and thought I needed to finish it before AS leaves in the morning. So I went round after round after round, and for awhile I wondered why either the end never arrived, or his feet were getting bigger...

I must have been quite delirious.

Anyways the single Thuja was completed. Here it is.

ONE Thuja

Not a good photo - I guess I was sleepy.

Kimono

And the whole of yesterday I did a couple of rows on the Kimono again. I won't have much time to work on it and I think I'll finish the Thuja first. I actually ripped it all out twice. So... it's only up to this length at the moment.

Proper Beginnings I

And another look.

Proper Beginnings II

The Sweater

Lastly I worked a few rows on The Sweater today while watching snippets of PBS's "Rumfeld's War"

I work and knit and purl and work... row after row after row...

Have you ever wondered why some things just refuse to grow? no matter how many minutes pass, how many stitches done, how many rows completed, why is this still so far from the required 59cm?!

41 4-ever

Sigh... And I'm already planning to do the sleeves together to lighten the load.

What's up next

Some considerations were in mind to start the Clapotis after my Thujas are done. But mlc found a smaller scarf version of the Eleanor - and I'll probably be working with her and c together. Well, will see what colorways are available at the LYS and hope there's something I like!

Addi Lace Arrived!

Sure enough they took only a week.

This appeared in my mailbox yesterday.

What's in there?

And of course being expectant - they were the addi lace needles!

Addi lace turbos!

The service is great!

(and i've casted on the kimono again! yayy)

Quote

I'm often reluctant to knit up my favorites, because when I'm done knitting with them, I won't have the yarn anymore. Sure, I'll have a sweater, but it's not the same. The yarn will be gone forever.

-At Knit's End, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

Sure... I feel like that ALL the time.

Knitting and Donuts

- are very therapeutic together.

At least I think so.

We had another knit out yesterday and I solved my sock problem - all thanks to Louise! :D

Knit Meet I

And we also had donuts~~ from the shop that has a neverending queue...

Donut Factory I

Thanks Lois~~

More photos here.

We trudged to GD again after the session and I was yarn squishing again... Sublime is really nice. *squish*squish*

I tried to finish the gusset for Thuja after dinner but I was really sleepy and not paying attention and the pattern didn't match. So I had to rip it and do the gusset all over again. Then - there was this hole there that didn't disappear. @#&*$

Nevermind. I think I'll do something to it when I'm all done. What's more important is that AS has a PAIR of socks.

Meanwhile work is going to go slower now that I need to do my presentation, term paper, assignment and prep for exams.
