Kimono

Ok I owe my blog the entry about my first lact project which is ... the Kimono Shawl.

Lady Kimono

I don't have a lot of furniture in the house for the Kimono to pose with so I took it with me when I went to Starbucks the other day (and of course i borrowed their furniture).

Kimono updates

No I'm not done yet.
In fact, I haven't been knitting since Sunday. I attempted like two rows on monday though, and that was about it.

Anyways, I still think I should give a little updated here.

Here it is on the new sofa.

Hmm.. Let's just say I'm past the three-quarter mark if I were to make 20 repeats of the pattern. heh.

WHOOOOOOOO~~~~~~~~~

yes yes I completed my Thujas lalala

and i'm now typing very fast and hiding the screen from AS because he suddenly came back in the middle of the night last night and is wondering why I'm so busy so early in the morning

So here they are when I finished them last night...

FINISHED!!!

at 2121hrs too!

2121pm

I used the kitchener stitch as described on the the techknitting blog. It was really easy!

Kitchener Stitch-ed

Here they are modelled (it looks like it doesn't fit because... it's not for me!)

all things random about k-ing

Firstly the second Thuja has been casted on. Finished an assignment (not really but it met part of the deadline before the edits - just waiting for partner's response now) so I thought I'd finish 'The Secret Life of a Knitter'.

I didn't but actually casted on Thuja 2 instead. Which is a good thing. I woke up this morning and made like 1/6 of a random scarf. It doesn't have to be finished, and could be frogged anytime. I just had a sudden urge to see what happens to that yarn when it becomes a scarf. So far it's not in my wip bag, but in the stash. I don't know what's going to happen to it - I'm not calling it a wip.

for the last 2 days i somehow couldn't find the printed copy of the Kimono and the last time where I did about 2 rows... (how pathetic - see here) I did it from reading the pattern from the computer. I think if I don't have the M&Ms and the hamhams, I would start talking to the computer. If no one already knows, I'm one who is not comfortable when there's no Internet, or the computer is not switched on, or if there's no gadget of anykind. I just feel a bit out of place. And now I've found another reason to switch this thing on - read my pattern from it! Yayyy~~~ \^.^/~

I'm up to row 8 now and counting.

Lois has informed of the WWKIP post. It sounds great! Maybe i should be sporting that punk rock look again. ... rofl rofl

i swear i wanted to say something else but i can't remember. oh well.

updating...

I was supposed to put this up yesterday but I was just too tired. Too much going on at home...

Thuja

AS left yesterday morning and on Sunday we were sleepy, packing, ironing, and all sorts of last minute stuff. I started back on Thuja only in the late evening, and thought I needed to finish it before AS leaves in the morning. So I went round after round after round, and for awhile I wondered why either the end never arrived, or his feet were getting bigger...

I must have been quite delirious.

Anyways the single Thuja was completed. Here it is.

ONE Thuja

Not a good photo - I guess I was sleepy.

Kimono

And the whole of yesterday I did a couple of rows on the Kimono again. I won't have much time to work on it and I think I'll finish the Thuja first. I actually ripped it all out twice. So... it's only up to this length at the moment.

Proper Beginnings I

And another look.

Proper Beginnings II

The Sweater

Lastly I worked a few rows on The Sweater today while watching snippets of PBS's "Rumfeld's War"

I work and knit and purl and work... row after row after row...

Have you ever wondered why some things just refuse to grow? no matter how many minutes pass, how many stitches done, how many rows completed, why is this still so far from the required 59cm?!

41 4-ever

Sigh... And I'm already planning to do the sleeves together to lighten the load.

What's up next

Some considerations were in mind to start the Clapotis after my Thujas are done. But mlc found a smaller scarf version of the Eleanor - and I'll probably be working with her and c together. Well, will see what colorways are available at the LYS and hope there's something I like!

Addi Lace Arrived!

Sure enough they took only a week.

This appeared in my mailbox yesterday.

What's in there?

And of course being expectant - they were the addi lace needles!

Addi lace turbos!

The service is great!

(and i've casted on the kimono again! yayy)

Not much time but lots to say

firstly, there wasn't any knitting done during the Hawaii Week. No knit shopping either. however, I did manage to finish one Needlecraft Mystery (Unraveled Sleeve) and have started on the second (Murderous Yarn). But things are ok, I came back and on the second day we already had a knitout. So I had a chance to rekindle the knit spirit.

We also received our Zephyr that day~ and of course they came in cones.

Cones and Cones of Zephyr

My choice was actually Ice Blue but I love the other colors as well.

Yarn focus I

I can't wait to get started on lace projects! (and start I will - as you will find out later.)

We had a great time there winding all the yarn (hahaha) - we kinda looked like a yarn factory. Someone stopped by to ask if we organized the meetup and 'displayed much interest'. He (yes, he.) wondered why we kept looking at the accompanying girl at the table and not really talking to him. I thought i might ask him to do the winding for us. HAHA And here are the yarn cakes

Cakes of Zephyr~!

We had a guest at the knitout that day and she's none other that Louise. She gave us little stitch markers she made herself! They were so cute!! I'll have to take a picture and put them up next time. :)

Oh! We stopped by at Spotlight that day too, to check out the Lion Brand yarns that were new. I got myself Magic Stripes to try out.

Lion Brand Magic stripes

Anyways I think I need to update my projects. I don't quite function in chaos, so says the lists person. The Andean Shawl has to go - there's a mistake and I'm thinking the Kimono Shawl would be better suited for the gift. After all I can use the yarn for something else. So here's the Cake.

Cotton Cake

As for Socks, I'm working on RPMs and Thuja now. The Thuja is started to redeem myself for the long long long time i'm taking on the Sweater.

Thuja

Socks for the Other

Thuja's worked with Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK. The yarn's wonderful to work with and I've got my Clover Takumi DPNs 4.00mm to work with me as well. So things are going ok.

RPM

No picture yet

The RPMs are worked with the Regia yarn I got from my SP. I've got two needles, Addis and the regular Aero. I prefer the Addis of course but I'm a little paranoid about SSS. I hope my Thujas don't suffer from SSS because I have no time to get another set of DPNs...

And since i'm at it.
Kimono

Elderberry for Kimono

My Kimono's worked on 3.75mm needles with Elderberry Zephyr. So far I've not started on a single repeat yet hahaha ... :P I'm really far behind the others who have started but ok, it'll come heh.

Alrighty, I think that's about enough updates for now. Have to go back to the orig blog.
